School Safety

Keeping the children entrusted to us safe is a top priority at St. John Vianney School. Whether we are conducting disaster preparedness drills, enhancing emergency communication systems, or controlling who can enter our building, our commitment to a safe school environment is unwavering. Here are some of the safety features you will find in our school:

• Doors locked at all times; double-door entryway
• Students enter the building in the morning and wait inside in the lunch room
• Individuals must be buzzed in and greeted by staff member
• Walkie talkies in all classrooms
• Walkie talkie with direct connection to Janesville Police dispatch
• Faculty and staff have at least one annual lockdown drill with Janesville police on-site
• Fire drills once a month; tornado drill once a year
• Adult monitors at all recesses
• AED (defibrillator) device in school with faculty and staff trained in use
• Handicap-accessible: All one level
• Phone system (School Messenger) that can provide instant communication to all parents
